My name is Elaine Yamamoto. I was honoured to have served as Vice Chair of your Board of Education for the past four years. I seek your support to continue to serve the students and families of SD42 for a second term.
I believe that continuity in leadership will enable the district to best deal with the social, emotional and learning fallout of Covid. We need to find ways to support our students and families who are struggling with two lost years of normal school activities and learning. I am a 23-year resident of Maple Ridge where my husband, Christian Cowley, and I both have chosen to work and raise our three children. For the past 14 years, my community development and literacy work has focused on connecting with and improving the lives of the people of our wonderful community. I was an active SD42 parent for 17 years and am committed to excellence in the public school system. |
