What I offer
As a dedicated member of the Maple Ridge community and current Chair of the SD42 school board, I will continue bringing my experience, collaboration and responsible leadership to serve the district.
Experience
As Chair and Vice Chair, I have led our Board through some challenging times ensuring the Board always listened carefully before making difficult decisions.
I will continue to advocate to the province for the resources students and staff need.
Collaboration
As Chair I led trustees with different life experiences, perspectives and passions. By listening, asking thoughtful questions and finding common ground, we reached decisions that prioritized students and staff. Our Board encouraged increased input from students, education partners, families and the public
Responsible Leadership
I bring a strong background of governance, policy, responsible stewardship of public resources and a commitment to informed, student-centred decisions. In 2023/2024, I led the Board through the search, hiring and transition to a new Superintendent of Schools who has brought clear, equitable educational goals and prudent fiscal management to the District. The Superintendent of Schools is the only employee of the Board.
With the full backing of the Board, the Superintendent has acted on the Board's priorities to improve instructional capacity in literacy and numeracy. A second-year, in-depth performance review showed broad support among staff and educational partners for the direction and management of the District.
In 2026, senior administration was streamlined resulting in ongoing savings of approximately $260,000.
